Policy analyst, Green reconstruction of Ukraine, IISD Coordinator, Build Ukraine Back Better Platform

Anna Ackermann is a policy analyst for the Energy team at the International Institute for Sustainable Development working on green reconstruction of Ukraine. With a background in energy, environmental and climate policy, she supports European organisations designing approaches to Ukraine’s sustainable recovery and development.

Anna is a founding member of the Centre for Environmental Initiatives “Ecoaction”, where she worked as head of the climate department and currently serves as a board member. In cooperation with international and Ukrainian partners, she also supported work on just transition for coal regions.

Previously, Anna managed the Energy Policy Reform expert group of Ukraine's largest civil society platform, Reanimation Package of Reforms. Through this work, she contributed to the establishment of the Energy Efficiency Fund and to electricity and building sector reforms in Ukraine.

Anna holds a joint master’s degree in environmental sciences, policy, and management from Central European University, The University of Manchester, and Lund University. She also holds a master’s degree in power engineering from the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."
