Mr. Frank Brunetta was the Procurement Ombudsman of Canada from January 2011 to December 2015. In his role as Procurement Ombudsman, Mr. Brunetta lead an independent office made up of professionals whose overall goal was to promote fairness, openness and transparency in Canadian federal procurement.


Before joining the Office of the Procurement Ombudsman, Mr. Brunetta was Assistant Deputy Minister of the Departmental Oversight Branch, Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC). His responsibilities included providing independent assurance and oversight on the prudence, probity and transparency of Departmental operations. Mr. Brunetta is also the former Chief Risk Officer for PWGSC.


Since joining the public service in 1978, he worked in various capacities at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where he occupied the positions of Director General, Special Initiatives and Director General, Audit and Evaluation Branch.


Mr. Brunetta holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and is a graduate of the Queen's University Program for Public Executives. In 2013 Mr. Brunetta accepted an executive fellowship at Bangor University's Institute for Competition and Procurement Studies (ICPS). Mr. Brunetta is also a lecturer at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata’s International Master in Public Procurement Management.
